Grand Rapids Michigan Crash: Police: Red-Light Violation Leads to Deadly Crash in Grand Rapids

A woman was killed late Sunday night in a crash in Grand Rapids after another vehicle ran a red light, according to police. Authorities say the collision occurred around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of South Division Avenue and 28th Street SE.

Investigators report that a northbound car traveling on Division Avenue failed to stop at a red light and struck a vehicle moving through the intersection on 28th Street. The woman driving the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the sole occupant of her car.

The northbound vehicle had three մարդիկ inside at the time of the crash. Police say at least one of those occupants sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The conditions of the others have not been fully detailed.

Preliminary findings suggest that both alcohol use and excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are working to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the collision.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to come forward. Tips can be shared directly with Officer Anthony Bailey or submitted anonymously through Silent Observer via phone, website, or mobile app.
