With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Garrett Donald Ellis, age 19, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, who died on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Born on December 4, 2006, to Michelle P. Ellis and Frank L. Ellis, Garrett lived a life defined by curiosity, ambition, and a deep and enduring love for flight.
From an early age, Garrett was drawn to the skies. Aviation was more than a passion—it was a calling that shaped his goals and guided his determination. At just 18 years old, he achieved a remarkable milestone by earning his private pilot certificate, a reflection of his discipline, focus, and commitment to excellence. Those who knew him remember a young man who approached life with quiet confidence and an unmistakable sense of wonder.
Garrett was a student at LaGrange College, where he pursued a degree in History with genuine enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. Outside the classroom, he served as Risk Management Chairman for the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, where he was respected for his leadership, reliability, and steadfast care for others. His fraternity brothers recall him as someone who led with integrity and showed up for others without hesitation.
He is survived by his loving parents, Michelle P. Ellis and Frank L. Ellis; his sister, Aubrey A. Ellis; his grandmother, Nancy Hill Ellis; his aunt, Terri; his uncle, Al; and his aunt, Annie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald E. Ellis and Shirley Wilbanks Ellis, and his aunt, Donna, who now welcome him in eternal rest.
Garrett’s life, though far too brief, was marked by purpose and promise. He is remembered as someone who lived fully, loved sincerely, and embraced life with both courage and heart.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:30 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 700 Ardenlee Parkway, Peachtree City, with Rev. Mark Dahn officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan.
